Experience level: All levels welcome. However Edward will teach at a pace suitable to Beginner/Intermediate adult dance students. Advanced students, you can join, it will just be slightly slower paced for you. Complete beginners, you’re welcome to join, but you will just be thrown in the deep end to keep up with everyone else :)
What to expect:
- Ed will take you through a jazz-type warm up to start
- You will learn the Jellicle Ball choreography from Cats, see a snippet here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DRGXIBSk16Y/
What to wear/bring:
- Whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident moving in. For some, that might be leggings and a tee, for others that may be dancewear. You do you!
- Shoes: Jazz shoes, runners, ballet shoes or bare feet. Socks get a bit slippery on floorboards in my opinion, but you can wear socks if you choose to.
- Water bottle
ABOUT EDWARD SMITH
In 2024, Ed taught the Wicked workshop for Kwan Studio, to glowing reviews. He returns in 2026, which we are super excited about!
Edward Smith trained at the Australian Ballet School before joining the Australian Ballet in 2016, performing in ballets across Australia and internationally.
In 2020, he joined Royal New Zealand Ballet, one of the only companies in the world performing during the pandemic. He returned to Australia in 2021, to perform in An American in Paris as the alternate Jerry Mulligan, making his musical theatre debut.
Edward also performed in the Australian production of The Phantom of the Opera and most recently in the Australian Tour of Wicked. He is currently performing in CATS as Admetus/Macavity.
