Masterclasses for adult ballet students with Nikolaus Tudorin, soloist with Paris Opera Ballet

Date: Sunday 9 August
Location: 225 Swan Street, Richmond (my usual studio)

Time:
12-1pm: Beginner ballet class
1-3pm: Easier-Intermediate/Intermediate 1hr 15 mins ballet class and 45 mins learning Paris Opera repertoire

(Note for purposes of choosing your level: many of my Intermediate students would be considered ‘Advanced’ at other studios. I will ask Nik to set the class at Eas-Int level with some more difficult options for Int/Adv students).

Who is this masterclass open to?
Open to everyone, not just Kwan Studio students.
To enrol in the beginner masterclass, you must be already learning ballet at an adult ballet studio somewhere though (not open to absolute beginners who have never done any ballet before).
Both masterclasses will be capped at 16 students.

About Nik:
Nik is my friend and we trained at the Australian Ballet School together. He graduated from Tanz Akadamie Zurich and was a Prix de Lausanne Laureate in 2012. He danced professionally in Europe before joining Paris Opera in 2018. He was promoted to soloist in 2021.

One thing that stands out to me about Nik, when hiring him to teach a Masterclass, is that he has also completed his teacher training with Paris Opera. AND he also teaches adult ballet classes in Paris on the weekends, alongside performing with Paris Opera.

Nik recently was on the adjudication jury for the Paris Opera company auditions.

For my beginners who may not know much about ballet, Paris Opera is the most prestigious ballet company in the world. 💌

Admin stuff:
I will email you a reminder 2 days before the class. Otherwise just turn up! Please leave all your clothes, bags and street shoes in the change rooms. You can bring your phone and any valuables into the studio and place on white table, if you don’t want to leave in changeroom.

Wear whatever you usually wear for ballet class, and bring your water bottle. Ballet flats or socks, no pointe shoes. My studio has tarkett. It is 7m x 10m, so not huge.

Livestream students:
You will be able to do the full barre, and in centre you will be able to do adage and small jumps. However, it is likely you won’t be able to do travelling pirouettes and grand allegro due to lack of space at home. Please note that Nik will not watch or correct livestream students, and sometimes it may be difficult to hear all the talking going on in the in-studio class. But the music is able to be heard clearly. I have taken these factors into account when pricing the livestream option :)
